Homework: Read for 20 minutes.

Reminders: Please look over and sign the forms sent home today. Please return the grey Digital Citizenship form ASAP so that students can begin to use technology. 

Daily Learning:
Today the students read independently and with a friend. Going over expectations and building their stamina is an important early step for the students. We also started learning different parts of speech and practiced this using sentence patterns which they used in their practice writing. In social studies, we started looking at our overall theme this year which is Canada and began a cover page for the year. Finally, we started creating our Pillars of Care bulletin board. Ask your child how they will be representing the four Pillars of Care at BHS.

Reminder: Friday is Sports Day Homework: Read for 20 minutes. Daily Learning: Today the students got to pick new seats. They chose their spot themselves and so are very excited. We continued to make our zoos in math. Ask your child for more information about this exciting area and perimeter project. The daily 5 continued as usual. We are getting very close to the end of our class novel, The Firekeeper. We practiced our math skills on Mathletics and will continue to do this weekly. We will be starting a new project in social studies tomorrow on the Canadian identity.

Food Drive

With the holiday season soon approaching its important to care for others and give back to those who are less fortunate than us.  This holiday season, Beddington Heights School will be a part of 2 programs that the city of Calgary runs for those less fortunate.   The first program is Loonies for Lunches.   Loonies for Lunches would bring students together to collect loonies to donate to the food bank. Each school and/or classroom would create a donation box to collect the loonies and perhaps have some healthy competition to see which class could raise the most. The loonies would then be used   by the Food Bank to   purchase food for our Weekends and More program that makes sure kids get the nutritious food they need on the weekends to stay healthy and learning.   The Mayor's Food Drive is where we collect non-perishable items, i.e. can goods, sealed boxed items, for Calgary's Food Bank.  Both programs start this Monday to Dec 14th.  For more information,
